Partner for excellent education

In the Joint Medical Master in St.Gallen students benefit from the strengths of two universities as well as other partners from science and practice who contribute their specific competences and experience.

University of Zurich
Since its foundation in 1833, human medicine has been an integral part of the education offered at the University of Zurich. Today, the Faculty of Medicine at UZH is one of the largest in Switzerland with internationally renowned teaching and research performance. More than 3000 students are enrolled at UZH in human medicine, chiropractic and dentistry. Their sound professional education is guaranteed by around 800 lecturers from a wide range of disciplines.
University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland
The Department of Health at the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (OST) is the central partner for the in-depth topic of interprofessionality. The Institute for Applied Nursing Science works on topics such as evidence-based nursing and patient and family education. In addition to monodisciplinary projects (nursing science), multidisciplinary and inter-institutional research and development projects as well as projects with external partners (medicine, psychology, prevention) are carried out.
Cantonal Hospital St.Gallen
As one of the largest hospitals in Switzerland with around 37,000 inpatients treated per year, the Cantonal Hospital St.Gallen employs over 5,500 staff, including around 40 professors involved in teaching and research, and offers more than 700 training places. Of the more than 50 clinics, departments and centres, 35 are recognised by the Swiss Institute for Continuing Medical Education and Training (SIWF) as training centres of the highest level A. By providing teaching staff and training places for students at the JMM-HSG/UZH, the Cantonal Hospital St.Gallen ensures sound clinical training on site.
Other partners The provision of a broad clinical training offered for students at the JMM-HSG/UZH is carried out with other medical training institutions in Eastern Switzerland. These include outpatient practices and hospitals in the region, such as Ostschweizer Kinderspital, Geriatrische Klinik St.Gallen, Psychiatrie St.Gallen Nord PSGN, Psychiatrie-Dienste Süd, Psychiatrisches Zentrum AR, Clienia Littenheid, KJPD St.Gallen, Klinik Sonnenhof Ganterschwil.
Education Network Medicine The Education Network Medicine is a cooperation of various universities for the education of medical doctors. It came into being in connection with the implementation of the special programme launched by the Federal Council and Parliament to "increase the number of degrees in human medicine".

Centre for Digital Health Interventions CDHI The Centre for Digital Health Interventions (CDHI) is a joint initiative of the Institute of Implementation Science for Health Care within the Medical Faculty at the University of Zurich, the Department of Management, Technology and Economics at ETH Zurich, the Future Health Technologies Programme at the Singapore-ETH Centre, and the School of Medicine and Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen.
Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care IfIS The Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care (IfIS) at the University of Zurich contributes to optimized health care. Our teaching, research and training accelerate the integration of research findings into health care and embed them in a sustainable way.
Additionally, implementation science removes low-value practices from health care services. It brings patients’ needs and implementation findings back into research

Health Care Networks

Netzwerk St.Gallen Health On the initiative of the City of St.Gallen, over 20 institutions are working together in the newly created St.Gallen Health network. The association St.Gallen Health wants to position St.Gallen more strongly as an attractive location for companies from the health sector and thus create jobs and attract specialists. Furthermore, jointly initiated congresses and specialist events are part of the cooperation. The St.Gallen Health network brings together business, research and education, makes the mutual competences and thus the synergies visible. It provides direct benefits to its members and is coordinated by the location promotion of the city of St.Gallen.
Center for Health Care The Center for Health Care (CHC-HSG) of the University of St.Gallen bundles the activities of the HSG for an integrative and interdisciplinary treatment of fundamental topics in health care.
