Participation in the 16th Annual Conference of the German Society for Health Economics

Our participation in the 16th Annual Conference of the German Society for Health Economics (DGGÖ) on "Ethics and Economics in the Healthcare System" in Halle (Saale), Germany, was an educational experience for our team from the Chair of Health Economics, Policy and Management at the School of Medicine at the University of St.Gallen. Our group, consisting of PhD students Maxime Sapin, Johannes Cordier, Irene Salvi and Jonas Subelack as well as PostDocs David Kuklinski and Justus Vogel, had the opportunity to present our latest research results and findings to an expert audience. These presentations covered a wide range of topics, from hospital planning in Switzerland, to comparative analysis of healthcare quality reporting websites, to the application of machine learning to identify critical values for physician visits after knee replacement surgery, to the study of price sensitivity and demand for healthcare services.

In addition to presenting our research work, the annual conference provided numerous opportunities for valuable discussions, the exchange of ideas and the gathering of new insights from other presentations and lectures. The constructive feedback and stimulating discussions with other experts in the field of health economics enriched our knowledge and opened up new perspectives. The experience and knowledge gained will help us to further develop our research and make a relevant contribution to the continuous improvement of the healthcare system.

Despite the long journey, it was a valuable experience that brought us even closer together as a team. We look forward to incorporating the knowledge gained into our future work and continuing to contribute to the advancement of health economics. We would like to thank the DGGÖ for the excellent organization of the annual conference and look forward to the next opportunity to participate in this important event.
