Exciting news from the 19th St. Gallen Breast Cancer Conference in Vienna!
On the 12-15 March 2025, Irene Salvi, Jonas Subelack, and Rudolf Morant proudly presented our latest research on breast cancer screening and detection.
We're thrilled to share that our work has been showcased through two insightful posters:
- 📊 Poster 1: Cost-effectiveness of a breast cancer screening program in Switzerland
🔍 Our research highlights the economic and health benefits of the Swiss mammography screening program "donna." Using a microsimulation-based decision-analytic model, we demonstrated that early detection leads to better patient outcomes while reducing healthcare costs. - 📊 Poster 2: Can AI detect interval breast cancer in screening mammograms where radiologists do not identify abnormalities?
🔍 We evaluated whether AI diagnostic software and also radiologists retrospectively detect cancer signs in screening mammograms for interval breast cancer (IBC). Here, the AI recognized signs of cancer in many IBC mammograms in which radiologists also retrospectively saw signs of cancer. In addition, the AI detected signs of cancer in some IBC mammograms in which no human recognized signs of cancer - indicating the general ability of AI to improve screening quality.
A huge thank you to the organizers of the St. Gallen Breast Cancer Conference for hosting such a valuable event and fostering collaboration across disciplines
