Led by Dr. Justus Vogel (Research Group Leader at the Chair of Health Economics, Policy and Management) as Principal Investigator and Prof. Dr. Urs Pietsch (Cantonal Hospital St. Gallen) as Co-Investigator, the “POM-D-H” project examines how clinical decisions can be supported and optimized using causal machine learning methods. Through the systematic use of extensive clinical data, the project aims to improve treatment outcomes for patients while also increasing efficiency and optimizing resource utilization in hospitals.
The four-year project brings together a strong network of research and clinical institutions. Participating partners include the University Hospital of Zurich (Prof. Dr. Reto Schüpbach), the Inselspital Bern (Prof. Dr. Carmen Pfortmüller), the Geneva University Hospitals (Dr. David Legouis), and the HOCH - Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen (Prof. Dr. Urs Pietsch and Prof. Dr. Miodrag Filipovic).
The School of Medicine warmly congratulates Dr. Vogel, Prof. Pietsch and the project consortium on this important grant award. This grant approval underscores the scientific and societal relevance of our School’s research and strengthens our practice-oriented research center at the intersection of medicine, management, economics and data science.
More information on the project contents and team will follow in the coming months.
