Evaluation and possible further development of the "donna" mammography screening program

The Cancer League of Eastern Switzerland and the School of Medicine have been researching the effectiveness and future development possibilities of the "donna" mammography screening program for around a year. After initial findings had already been presented at (inter-)national conferences, we now also presented and discussed these results with experts and interested parties from the region. The event took place on Thursday, May 23 at HSG SQUARE and attracted around 40 people from St.Gallen and the surrounding area.

The following topics were presented and discussed at the event:

  • Dr. Rudolf Morant opened the evening and explained the current screening situation in Switzerland.
  • Dr. David Kuklinski shed light on the question of whether screening has a positive effect on survival.
  • Marcel Blum spoke about risk factors for the development of interval carcinomas.
  • Jonas Subelack presented whether artificial intelligence could have detected interval cancers during screening.
  • Prof.Dr. Alexander Geissler gave an outlook on further research cooperation and moderated the extensive Q&A session.

The lively participation and exchange among the participants testified to the great interest and commitment in the community. The discussions were further deepened and new contacts were made during subsequent networking drinks.

The Cancer League of Eastern Switzerland and the School of Medicine are delighted with the positive response to their research and are optimistic about the future, where the next joint research topics have already been initiated.
