To improve quality and transparency in the Swiss healthcare system, the Federal Quality Commission (FQC) has launched an initiative to develop recommendations for a national quality monitoring system (QMS). The goal is to continuously improve healthcare services for patients, providers, and decision-makers.
Based on insights from the latest FQC report, the initiative focuses on the following key areas:
Finalizing recommendations for the user groups of a national QMS
Proposing a selection of quality indicators (QIs) for healthcare providers across all quality dimensions
Developing a process for the ongoing review and adaptation of QIs
Stakeholders such as cantonal health directorates and patient organizations are actively involved to promote transparency and identify areas for improvement.
We are excited to support this project in close collaboration with 12 other Swiss research institutions, laying the foundation for a national QMS.
