Latest research at Global Breast Cancer Conference in Seoul

HSG School of Medicine shares latest research at Global Breast Cancer Conference in Seoul

Last week Dr. David Ehlig and Jonas Subelack from our Chair of Health Economics, Policy and Management shared our latest research in regards to breast cancer screening/ prevention at this year’s Global Breast Cancer Conference (GBCC) in Seoul.

Our studies address two major topics:

  1. Reducing the number of interval breast cancers with AI: Here, we analyzed whether the utilization of an AI system in a mammography screening can reduce the number of interval breast cancer cases by detecting them already during screening. Here, we found supporting evidence that the AI can improve diagnostic quality.
  2. Implementation strategies of AI in a breast cancer screening program: By testing different opportunities of integrating AI into mammography screening programs, our research discusses the best balance between high cancer detection and manageable workloads for clinical staff and recall rates for women.

You can find the poster and the presentation on our website (conference contributions).

We’re excited to share/ discuss these insights with global experts and engage in a meaningful dialogue about the future of breast cancer screening. Stay tuned for more updates and feel free to reach out if you’re interested in learning more about our research!
