Better survival thanks to mammography screening

Our study shows that breast cancer patients who took part in the local breast cancer screening programme (‘donna’) and were diagnosed in the process live significantly longer. Specifically, participation in the screening programme resulted in a reduction in mortality of around 45% and fewer invasive treatments such as mastectomies or chemotherapy were required.

Following our publication in the international journal Breast Cancer Research (link), we are now pleased to present our results in the Swiss practice-oriented journal info@ONCO-SUISSE. This journal is aimed at all doctors working in oncology and offers important insights into current research work and practice-orientated further training.

These results highlight the importance of early detection and preventive programmes for improving patient care.
