Our research team from the School of Medicine at the University of St. Gallen actively participated in the 17th annual conference of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gesundheitsökonomie (DGGÖ), held in Paderborn from March 24-25, 2025.
Representing our Chair Health Economics, Policy and Management, PhD candidates Carla Walker, Sonja Müller, and Jonas Subelack shared our research with two presentations:
Carla Walker held a presentation titled "Empowering patients choose and providers improve: A focus group study on quality information needs in Switzerland’s in- and outpatient somatic care." Her study provided valuable insights into patient preferences and highlighted key factors influencing patient decision-making in Swiss healthcare.
Jonas Subelack shared research around "Krankenhausvergütung via Fallpauschalen: Gibt es Leistungsgruppen, die besonders (un-)profitabel sind? Erkenntnisse aus dem Schweizer Krankenhaussektor." His research identified variations in profitability among different service groups within the Swiss hospital sector, contributing important knowledge to discussions about hospital financing and economic sustainability.
The conference offered an excellent platform for exchanging ideas and furthering discussions on critical issues in health economics, policy, and management, particularly around the theme of "Alterung und Gesundheit".
