Our participation in the Swiss Pneumology Congress

Last week, Daria Bukanova-Berend, had the opportunity to present our latest research at the Swiss Pneumology Congress 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Our study, titled “What Do COPD Patients with Low Health Literacy Need to Enhance Their Self-Management?”, explores how COPD patients with low health literacy (HL) differ from those with high HL in terms of their characteristics, daily challenges, and support needs.

Our findings highlight that low HL is associated with a higher disease burden and significantly greater unmet support needs. This underscores that a "one-size-fits-all" approach to care is insufficient. Instead, a personalized model of care that adapts to the needs of patients with limited health literacy is essential.

To improve COPD outcomes, we need to bridge the health literacy gap with tailored and practical care.

A huge thank-you to the organizers of the Congress and everyone contributing to better respiratory care in Switzerland and beyond!
