International Health Systems Research Collaborative

Research program

Project team

The “International Health Systems Research Collaborative” is a research network that deals with the empirical analysis and comparison of healthcare systems in different countries. It is designed as a research program with several sub-projects and focuses on researching the functioning of these health systems and their impact on health care. The aim is to develop an in-depth understanding of the different models and to use the knowledge gained to improve healthcare worldwide. More information about the research network can be found on the website: projects.iq.harvard.edu/ihsrc

Our goal is to contribute to the research and analysis of international health systems by bringing the Swiss health system into the context of the IHSRC. In addition to Swiss data, we contribute our expertise to the network and transfer findings to Switzerland in comparison with other countries in order to further improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare in this country.

In international comparisons of general (quality) indicators, the Swiss healthcare system often occupies the top positions. At the same time, healthcare expenditure is also comparatively high. By participating in the IHSRC, we have the opportunity to analyze our system in an international comparison for selected diseases and their care using specific data, to identify best practices and to learn from the experiences of other countries. Our involvement includes providing data and analysis on the Swiss healthcare system, participating in joint research projects, designing our own research projects as lead, sharing expertise and actively participating in workshops and conferences. We also plan to conduct specific studies focusing on the strengths and challenges of our system.
